Note: Reception problems after display conversion at Samsung
Devices from the USA use a different radio standard than the models commonly used in Europe, which is why they require specific antennas. These antennas are integrated in the display frame of most US models.
If the display frame of such a device is converted to an EU version, this can lead to considerable reception problems.
We can therefore only guarantee perfect functionality for the EU versions. It is therefore essential to check in advance which region code your device has.
There are two ways to determine the exact region code of a device:
- In the settings: The region code can often be read directly under ‘Phone info’ or a similar menu item in the device settings.
- On the logic board or sub-board: On some models, the region code is printed on the logic board (main board) or the sub-board (charging socket). In some cases, the charging socket must be removed, as the imprint may be on the back of the subboard and is therefore not visible without removal.
It is important to note that information on battery covers or flex cables in the device does not provide reliable information on the region code, as these components are often used across different models.
Note:
4G EU models, the model number usually ends with F Galaxy S20 (G980F)
5G EU models, the model number usually ends with B Galaxy S20 5G (G981B)
USA models, the model number usually ends with U Galaxy S20 USA (G980U)
